About The Name

Colors of a Flower has been in my heart for a long time.  When I was 7, I came up with a song I called "The dafadills are pity," which had the message that flowers are beautiful and special, much like people. Looking back, I think the song was inspired by the Harry Chapin song "Flowers are Red," which was my favorite of the songs that my dad used to play for my siblings and me. It's about a little boy who loves to draw flowers using the "so many colors in a flower," not just the red and green that his teacher tells him is proper.

And so, the namesake of my studio: Colors of a Flower, which reminds me of myself as a little girl who was always drawing and believed that flowers and people are so beautiful.

"The Dafadills are Pity..."

In case you're having trouble reading my 7-year-old self's handwriting and spelling, here's a translation:

"The daffodils are pretty. The sunflowers are too. You're prettier or handsomer than them. The roses are special. The tulips are too, but you are specialer than them. And your hearts are close to God's. It's nice to share and love. You're doing your job if you're sharing and loving!"
